Positives – what and why
Negatives – what and why

KNOWLEDGE
BASE

Biodegradability
The biochemical decomposition of organic compounds done by living organisms, e.g. bacteria, protozoa, actinomycetes, fungi and algae. Complex process with many chemical and biological reactions. We aim to make our products as biodegradably friendly as possible.
SLES
Ethoxylated sodium lauryl sulfate - milder, related to SLS substance and has the same negative characteristics.
SLS
Sodium lauryl sulfate – strong cleaning, foam making detergent, commonly used in the chemical industry. May penetrate skin, cause irritation and allergy. Toxic to fish and other aquatic animals, may also accumulate in the organisms of animals and humans. Detected more and more often in municipal water companies sewage system filters, may also infiltrate into drinking water.

Parabens
A group of chemicals which are used as preservatives in cosmetics and chemicals, inhibits the growth of microorganisms for an extended product shelf life. Recent research shows, however, that parabens may have a harmful effect on skin and general health. May cause itching, a skin rash or reddening.
Carnauba waxes
A natural plant wax which comes from leaves of Copernicia Cerifera palm, grown in Brazil. Has been used for many years as a raw material in car waxing preparations as is the hardest natural wax known today. The main property of wax is paint protection from adverse environmental conditions, including fading due to direct sunlight, acid rain and bird droppings.
Natural linseed oil
Has been used since ancient times, mainly for digestive problems and as an anti-inflammatory agent for respiratory ailments. Also has cleaning, polishing and preserving properties. Those features we used during the formulation development of Autoland’s NATURAL car care range.

Petroleum derivatives
By-products of the processing of crude oil and fuel production. They have a harmful effect on the natural environment by polluting elements of ecosystems and have a toxic effect on living organisms. Evaporating, enters the atmosphere, causing the worsening of the greenhouse effect, formation of smog. Creates ozone in the lower layers of the atmosphere when combined with nitrogen oxides - may cause lung irritation and respiratory problems. Pollutes the soil, destroys microflora and microfauna, and inhibits the nitrification process.
Ethyl alcohol from natural products
Which comes from potatoes or grains from a Polish producer. Ecologically sustainable production of ethyl alcohol minimizes the potential negative effects on the natural environment.
Phosphates
Used for water softening, easing the cleaning process and as a field fertilizer. Have a negative effect on ground water, accelerating the eutrophication of water, entering from sewage and rainfall from fields. Excess of phosphates causes the development of phytoplankton, reduces the amount of oxygen and increases fauna mortality.

Natural sugar surfactants
Responsible for removing dirt. Natural glucose derivatives, biodegradable in aerobic and anaerobic conditions with an excellent ecotoxicological profile, environmentally friendly.
Formaldehyde
Colorless gas with a suffocating odour. Used as a disinfectant and bactericidal agent, to extend products shelf life. Interferes with protein synthesis, can also affect the nervous system and cause depression. Research shows that it can cause allergies (skin irritation) and aggravate respiratory problems.
Silicone
Synthetic polymer, leaves the treated surface smooth, frequently used in polishes, lotions and waxes. When used in excess these not natural substances, can have side or even harmful effects. Non-biodegradable!

Recycling
One plastic bottle takes up to 500 years to decompose! The recycling process starts with segregation. Autoland’s NATURAL products use bottles and labels that are made only of the same material - PET, that allows for easier segregation and further reusability. Not only bottles can be made using recycled materials, for example - fleece, ski clothes, tents and backpacks. Recycling of PET bottles is a process carried out not only for ecological reasons, the economic aspect also plays an important role. Our main motivation behind recycling is to help to save the Earth's natural resources, and to give materials a second life.
